Carey Institute to host Farm to Glass Workshop

The Carey Institute for Global Good it's ever-popular Farm to Glass Classroom on Saturday May 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Honey and Mead Workshop is for novice mead makers, beekeepers interested in selling honey to brewers, brewers and mead makers looking for local honey, and anyone who may just be interested in craft mead production.

Speakers and panelists for the event will include Apiculturist, Paul Cappy, of the NYS Agriculture and Markets. As well as Peter Voelker, the Owner/operator of Helderberg Meadworks, and Jamie Caligure, head brewer from Cave Mountain Brewery.

The workshop is limited and costs $20 per person. Reservations can be made by e-mailing rplatel@careyconferencecenter.org or by calling (518) 797-5100.

Carey Conference Center to host Farm-to-Glass Class

On Saturday, December 7, the Carey Conference Center will play host to a workshop for novice mead makers, beekeepers interested in selling honey to brewers, brewers and mead makers looking for local honey, and anyone interested in craft mead production.

The course will feature the following speakers: Paul Cappy of the Apiculturalis NYS Agriculture & Markets, Peter Voelker, Owner/Operator of the Helderberg Meadworks, and Head Brewer of Cave Mountain Brewery Jamie Caligure.

The two hour session is $20 per person beginng at 10 a.m. at the Guggenheim Pavillion at the Carey Institute for Global Good, Rensselaerville, NY. Light refreshments will be provided.

Make Your Own Cider Workshop

The Carey Center for Global Good's Farm Brewing Project is hosting a ‘make your own’ cider workshop at Conkling Hall’s Annual Chili Cook-Off. If you’ve got an overloaded apple tree, here’s your chance to make some sweet or hard cider!

Also, coming up —a honey talk and tasting with Master Beekeeper and neighbor, Richard Ronconi, this Saturday, September 28 from 3pm to 5pm at the Carey Center. See the attached poster for more details.

You bring the apples. We’ll help you do the rest!
1 to 1.5 bushels (20-25lbs) of apples needed

Wild Apple & Sweet Cider Tasting

$15 includes hard cider kit and instruction. Does not include apples or entry to Chili Cook-Off. Limited amount of pre-picked apples available for purchase.
